Verified Badges

Three GIS-backed badges independently score what a listing photo can't prove on its own: how close a property really is to the water, and how clear the sight line actually is. Every score comes from the same ray-traced analysis we run nightly across the whole Outer Banks rental market — not a self-reported claim.

🌊 Verified Ocean View

For properties with a genuine, unobstructed line of sight to the Atlantic. We ray-trace against real building footprints so a listing that merely says "ocean view" can't hide behind a neighbor's roofline.

Eligibility
  • Within 2,000 ft of the Atlantic shoreline
  • GIS sight-line classification is Clear, Wide Peekaboo, or Peekaboo — not Sliver or Interior

🛶 Verified Sound View

For properties genuinely fronting Currituck Sound, Pamlico Sound, or a connected water body — sunset views, calm water, kayak/paddleboard access. Same ray-trace method as the ocean badge, applied to the sound side.

Eligibility
  • Within 500 ft of a sound or connected water body
  • GIS sight-line classification is Clear, Wide Peekaboo, or Peekaboo

🪁 Verified Wind Sports Home

For properties in the premier tier for kiteboarding and windsurfing access — the stretch of Pamlico and Currituck Sound shoreline (including Island Creek and the water off Cape Hatteras) that draws wind-sports guests specifically for launch access, not just a water view.

Eligibility
  • Sits in a GIS-classified premier wind-sports water body
  • Roughly 207 Outer Banks properties currently qualify fleet-wide

How an owner claims a badge

  1. Sign in at the Owner Hub and add your property. If it's eligible for any badge, you'll see it on your dashboard automatically — we already know from the GIS data, no need to apply.
  2. Upload a photo confirming the view or access point from your property.
  3. We compare your photo against our independent GIS analysis and review within 48 hours.
  4. Once verified, your badge is live and shareable — a trust signal guests and PMs can't fake.
